Q Radiothon 2021 will take place on Friday 26th February.
In its first two years, the Q Radiothon campaign has raised nearly £140,000 for four equal beneficiaries namely Action Cancer, Cancer Fund for Children, Friends of The Cancer Centre and Marie Curie.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, lockdown and ensuing restrictions the 2020 campaign unfortunately had to be cancelled.
Q Radio presenters Steve Turnbull and Jordan Humphries (pictured) are encouraging the Northern Ireland public to get involved in Q Radiothon 2021 and help raise vital funds and awareness for the partner charities.
The 2021 campaign seeks to shine a light on the work of four fantastic causes amidst the pandemic. The charities are still providing vital services to adults and children across Northern Ireland affected by cancer, life-limiting and terminal illnesses. Services have been continued thanks to the use of PPE, stringent sanitising measures and many services have been moved to being delivered online or via telephone.
Service users from each of the four charities will share their stories on air on 26th February, explaining the amazing support they have received, during the most difficult of circumstances.
Sinead Cavanagh Group Sales Operation Manager for Q Radio is urging the public to support Q Radiothon 2021. She says;
“It has been an incredibly challenging time for everyone, with COVID-19 affecting all aspects of our daily lives. Our charity partners have also been impacted, with each facing a fall in fundraising income as a result of the pandemic. Their work is incredibly important in these difficult times, with each providing vital support to so many local families. They need our support now, more than ever, and we hope to raise as much as we can to ensure that their vital work can continue. Together we can make a difference!”
This year’s Q Radiothon may be a little different due to current restrictions, but there are still lots of ways Q Radio’s listeners can get involved and show their support. Ideas include an online quiz night, a sponsored haircut by a family member, a virtual or drop off coffee morning or why not set yourself a personal challenge and ask family and friends for sponsorship?
