About Q Radiothon
We are hosting our second Q Radiothon on Thursday 30th May, Friday 31st May and Saturday 1st June 2019.
The aim of Q Radiothon is to bring people across Northern Ireland together to raise money for our four fantastic charity partners and the vital work they do to support local families affected cancer and serious illness. Our charity partners are Action Cancer, Cancer Fund for Children, Friends of the Cancer Centre and Marie Curie.
Over the Q Radiothon weekend (Thursday 30th May to Saturday 1st June 2019), Q Radio will be buzzing with activity. On Thursday and Friday we will be broadcasting live from a purpose built studio at Friends of the Cancer Centre, which is based at the heart of the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital, and on Saturday we will be taking Q Radiothon on the road as we broadcast from Victoria Square, Belfast, the Tower Centre Ballymena, The Quays, Newry and Foyleside, Derry/Londonderry.
Content will be driven by the work undertaken by each of the participating charities and we will hear some really inspiring stories about how your support can make a difference to the lives of local families. Over the weekend we will be calling on our listeners and people across Northern Ireland to dig deep and to make a donation via text, phone or online. We might even have some famous faces join us, so make sure you tune in.
In the run up to the Q Radiothon weekend, school pupils can also become rebels for a cause by taking part in our Break the Rules Fundraiser on 24th May or a date of their choice.
We are also encouraging people across Northern Ireland to take part in our Big Brunch, or to hold their own fundraising event, to help us raise even more money for our worthy causes.
On 14th June we will be taking you back in time at our 80s and 90s Disco in the Doyen. Tickets are available here.
You can find out more about how you can support us by visiting the ‘Get Involved’ section of the website.
This year is our second Q Radiothon and we are committed to making a huge success for these charities, but we really need your help. Together we can make a difference.

We have endeavored to keep costs to run Q Radiothon to a minimum and thanks to the generosity of Q Radio management, Q Radio staff, our charitable partners and other sponsors, we have very low operating costs. However, in order to administer the Q Radiothon, fundraise creatively and manage the funds raised professionally, we do incur some costs. You can find out more about the local companies supporting Q Radiothon in the ‘Our Sponsors’ section of the website https://qradiothon.com/sponsors/

Unfortunately Q Radio will not be able to guarantee coverage of individual events on the station. However, local newspapers are a great way to let people in your community know that you’re supporting Q Radiothon. Please email us at email@example.com and we will be happy to send you information which your local paper will find useful. This will also help spread the word about how other people in your community can support
Q Radiothon and help us raise even more money to support our four fantastic charities.
Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that our presenters will be able to attend your event. We have a really busy time ahead and our presenters will be heavily involved with our on air activities encouraging people across Northern Ireland to support Q Radiothon.
If you are taking part in an event or holding your own event, we would love to hear from you and we will try our very best to give some shout outs on air.

You can visit our JustGiving page at any time to see the fantastic donations that we are raising together. Our presenters will also keep everyone updated on how much money is being raised across the Q Radiothon weekend (30th May – 1st June).
The final total will be announced when all donations have been received and accounted for. Once we have a grand total we will announce it on air on Q Radio, online on this website, across our social media channels and through our charity partners. To help us get to our final total, we would encourage our fundraisers and donors to lodge their money as soon as they can (see section below for details).
Getting your money to us
There are lots of ways to send in your donations, but we ask that you don’t send cash by post. We also ask that you don’t send your donation directly to one of our charity partners as this will make it more difficult to track your donation and add it to the main Q Radiothon total. Instead, please use one of the options below:
- https://www.justgiving.com/qradiothon or if you are taking part in Break the Rules you can donate online via: www.justgiving.com/campaign/QRadiothonBreaktheRulesDay2019
- By post: send a cheque made payable to ‘Q Radiothon’ to:
Q Radio, Fountain Centre, College Street, Belfast, BT1 6ET
When you donate via our JustGiving page, you will be given the option to add Gift Aid which will add an extra 25p to every £1 you donate. Unfortunately, we are not able to Gift Aid your cash or cheque donations this year, but we will be working on this for our next Q Radiothon.
Once we have received all donations from our wonderful supporters, the final total will be shared equally among our four charity partners Action Cancer, Cancer Fund for Children, Friends of the Cancer Centre and Marie Curie.
Each of our charity partners provide vital support to families across Northern Ireland who are affected by cancer, life-limiting and terminal illnesses. To see some of the ways each charity will use your generous donation, you can visit the ‘Our Charities’ section of the website and you can also read some inspiring stories from people who have been supported by the work of each of the charities in the ‘News’ section of the website.
Or you can find out more about each charity and the work it does by visiting its website:
